Сокращение потребления в стране, вызванное либо действиями правительства по увеличению налогов, либо инфляцией, которая приводит к более быстрому росту цен на товары и услуги по сравнению с ростом доходов потребителей. Проводя политику принудительных сбережений, государство стремится получить дополнительные ресурсы для инвестиций в государственный сектор, что представляется важным для развивающихся стран, экономическое развитие которых сдерживается недостатком сбережений.
